The Good News!
Hi. I'm Jacquelyn, owner and founder of San Diego Destination Weddings,
I believe that marriage was created by God for a man and a woman to experience a taste of the love that God has for us.
The bond of marriage is a sacred and holy union. The experience of being married to the person that you love is something that cannot really be described in words. Many would say that it is a union that completes the individual. I think in many aspects this is true. All of us need love and to have that need fulfilled by another person is a great mystery. How can one person fill a need in another person by just being? The two truly do become one!
An even greater mystery is how the God who created marriage can fulfill an even greater need that we all have that even our spouses cannot fill: it is a spiritual need for God's love.
So what's the Good News?
The Good News is that the God who created you, your spouse, and this world LOVES YOU! Yes that's true, He loves you! Now you may be saying to yourself, "Umm... that's not what I've heard or been taught about God. The God that I heard about wants me to be something that I'm not, and if I don't do what he wants, he will beat me into submission. " This is just not true! You are God's child, and He desires to love and be loved by you! If you are a parent, you can understand the love of a parent to a child. Is there anything that your child can do that will make you NOT love him or her? I don't think so. You may not like what your child does or your child's attitude. You may even have to discipline your child. But discipline does not mean that you don't love him. In fact, discipline means that you do love your child. You love him enough to guide him down the right path. Even if that guidance hurts, guidance comes from love. In this same way, God loves us. He desires to have a loving relationship with us. Don't take my word for it. God has given us a guidebook to know and understand Him: the BIBLE. Look at what He says:
1 John 3:1
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
1 John 4:9
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Hebrews 12:6
For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”
Proverbs 3:12
For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
Ephesians 2:4
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 8:39
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?
Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying:“ Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you
As you can see from the Bible, God's Word, He loves you. He desires that you love Him too.
So you say, "How do I love God? I cannot see him or touch him... How do I reach him?" You don't have to go far. In fact, you don't have to reach out to him. He is already reaching out to you through His Son, whom we call Jesus Christ. You see, we are separated from God by our sins (sin is breaking God's law). Because of that separation, we no longer have the ability to have a close relationship with our Heavenly Father and will die separated from Him for all eternity. But because He loves us so much and desires nothing but for us to be with Him forever, he came to earth as a man, born of a woman, to suffer the punishment for our sins. Jesus, the God-man, the son of God, made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could easily reach God and live with Him as His children, FOREVER. He, Jesus, died as our punishment! But He came back to life to show us what God has planned for us after we die: everlasting life. His death was a choice that He made, a free gift that He offered to us so that we can reach God. All you have to do is reach out and receive that free gift.
Our Heavenly Father is standing with hands open, reaching out to you with a gift in His hands saying, "Here is a FREE gift, Eternal Life, given in love to you so that we can be together, and all you have to do is take it." The way to take it is to believe. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." It is really as simple as that!
"Is it really that simple..?" Yes. "But I have been a bad person. I don't know if I can live a goody-two-shoes life..." God doesn't require anything of you but FAITH. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:8-10. God will change your heart when you accept His gift of Eternal Life, and good works will come through you, from Him.
Won't you consider accepting God's free gift? He is waiting for you! If you want to learn more about God's love for you, you may email me. I'd love to chat with you anytime.
It is my hope that you will know the God who created you and enjoy a loving relationship with Him for all of eternity!
